for the past seven years kornel kovacs has been busy rocking dancefloors and boomboxes worldwide as one third of stockholms studio barnhus alongside axel boman and petter nordkvist. the label and dj trio is spearheading a new era of fearless swedish off-centre dance music, straddling the line between the cute and the menacing. anticipation for kovacs debut album has been rocketing following stand out releases like 2014s wistful szikra, last years mad party anthem pantalon on glasgows numbers imprint and the late night groove of space jam on smallville records. on the bells, kovacs pops open his trunk full of sounds nicked from the lost and found bins of nightclubs all over the world. from the distorted organ chords of bb to the stripped down trancehall beats of joseys tune and sziv utca and the title tracks cinematic romanticism, its all of the bells and all of the whistles - further positioning kornel kovacs as one of the most characteristic producers of modern house music. the record was completed in an intense two-week session with kovacs great friend and great studio engineer matt karmil in the cold winter of 2016. another close friend, artist malin gabriella nordin, has created the album artwork together with her brother jonas.

things start off in spectacular fashion with the cute and upbeat spiritual encounter before settling into some funky and mysterious electro with bombay mix. hard copy is reminiscent of the early hi nrg vibes of bobby orlando or gino soccio but woolly hat and parallel universes are funky, fun loving 4/4 electro grooves that are more typical of the dmx sound. he saves the best for last though, with some darker excursions such as the high octane, telex sounding computational paradigm shift and the smack electro closer black poppy. with electro making an obvious comeback.

italian dj and producer manuel fogliata hasnÕt released a lot of records over the last ten years, but the few he has put out have always been worth tracking down. perhaps best known for his work alongside donato dozzy in creating the much sought-after aquaplano records at the tail end of the last decade, nuelÕs solo outings have been just as consistent and just as impressive. whether taking on metallic electro or syrupy, bass-heavy ambience, nuelÕs attention to detail and his keen ear for a groove has made each release something to treasure. nuelÕs only previous full-length, trance mutation (further records, 2011), was a masterpiece of minimal repetition.

mikkel metal was the first artist on echocord, and the main reason why the label was started back then. after many many releases we are very happy and proud that he now returns with a full lenght album. more than 7 years after his last long-player album mikkel metal returns with a new album for echocord. bypassing dub-techno as the starting point, this is music clearly consistent with earlier output. we are presented with 10 tracks that all evolve with around a melancholic melodic framework. while there is clearly a nod to detroit and another to dub- techno, the overall impression is consistently and unmistakably the sound of mikkel metal. a hypnotic, very enjoyable and thorough return from the danish artist.

during the last three years a new name has been making waves at ostgut ton and berghain: berlin born, raised and based producer kobosil made his debut with a remix of barker & baumeckers silo (ostgut ton, 2013), completely unknown at the time, he has quickly earned his stripes as a dj on the clubs main floor, eventually becoming a resident at berghain. following up on five subsequent 12 releases and kobosils first live sets, his debut album sees him covering yet new ground in the form of a full length release
